Outdoor Training

What is it about outdoor training that is so much fun?  Those who get outside regularly will know that outdoor training beats a gym workout hands down - some of the reasons include:

  • Variety : every day you head out the door is different.  The weather is different, the world looks different, you can go a new direction and find somewhere new to work out
     
  • Interest : when you are indoors there's not much to look at.  With outdoor training, you have the whole world to keep you interested
     
  • Quality : when you spend your workout staring at a TV monitor you pay less attention to your body, and your workout can suffer
     
  • Health : outdoor training exposes you to fresh air and sunshine, two vital ingredients to overall health and well-being
     

If you are stuck in the indoor mindset, you may have overlooked the numerous possibilities for exercising outside.  Options include:

  • Cardio Exercise

    The most obvious choices are walking and running, but you can also ride a bike - either on the road or off-road - take up a sport like rowing, or even try open water swimming
     
  • Sports

    The choice of sports is huge - from football and rugby to tennis and netball, there are dozens of possibitlies
     
  • Boot Camp or Circuits

    Boot camp programs are now offered all over the country, or you can simply figure out your own form of circuit workout, mixing running with body weight exercises like squats, push-ups and lunges
